If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how valuable is a video? According to comScore, YouTube has surpassed 100 million viewers, and is second in query volume among search engines. Adding to this, 99% of all Google video searches are on YouTube.
More and more, building your brand means engaging with your audience not only in the SERP space, but in social media, including YouTube. Videos create a dynamic way to interact and build a relationship with your consumer. A positive experience with your brand will help increase brand loyalty among consumers.
Promote Your Video (PYV)
A YouTube Sponsored Channel should be more than just an organized home for your brand commercials. Depending on your product or service, your Channel can be a place to create buzz around a new product launch, a how-to learning center, and even a voice for reputation management. For example, if you are a gaming company, share the behind the scenes making of your next game. If you are a cosmetics company, house a series of videos on makeup application techniques. A great illustration of good reputation management was Domino Pizza’s timely response to a dicey situation using social media.
PYV Best Practices
Utilizing Google Adwords and Search, you can promote your brand channel, or a specific video. To maintain a successful You Tube campaign there are a few best practices you need to follow.
- Keywords – Keep them simple, no need for long-tailed phrases. Build out not only your brand terms, but general category terms including cross selling categories. If your company sells shoes, include sports fashion keywords.
- Content – Keep it fresh! You want consumers to subscribe and share. Refresh your content to keep viewers coming back.
- Close the loop – Make it easy for viewers to find your homepage. Include a link to your brand website and vice versa.
- Be involved – Not only can consumers learn more about your brand, you can learn from the consumers. Read viewer comments, respond, and adjust.

With a YouTube campaign you can use either a specific video or your brand channel for a landing page, depends on your goal.
If you are trying to raise awareness around your brand the channel would be a better choice, but if you have a specific promotion going on like a national sales event, and you have a relevant TV spot then you should direct your traffic there.
